There are 2 types of ads:

* Search Engine Ads (ADWORDS)
* Contextual /Content Ads (ADSENSE)

Search Engine Ads which are also called Adwords about which we have discussed earlier.
Contextual/Central Ads also called Ad sense. These ads are placed on web sites according to the site content or site theme. There are lots of site owner who are making money through these ads. Anyone can sign up to run their ads on this site by using the service provided by Google that is called Google Adsense programme (www.google.com/adsense). Google examine the pages which you will prefer to have ads and will put the ads according to the theme/content.
Google will provide you code which you have to add on your page and then Google automatically generate ads on your site on each time when your page will be loaded.
